Badenhorst Discovery Case is the perfect selection to dive into the rich culture of Swartland, one of the most promising wine-regions in South Africa where local legend Adi Badenhorst has become a benchmark for quality and price. With three generations of winemaking experience and his training from various wineries around the world including Chateau Angelus in Bordeaux, the furry-faced winemaker is known for his great charisma, humor and most notably great winemaking skill, mentoring many young aspiring vignerons around South Africa. These single vineyard wines exemplify his extraordinary talent and the diverse terroir of Swartland, one of the top emerging fine wine regions of South Africa today.
A.A. Badenhorst Discovery Case (6 bottles) contains:
- 1 x A.A.BadenhorstKlip Kop Steen Chenin Blanc 2020 – White – JS92
This vineyard was planted in 1966 on a 0.6 hectare plot. It is a great reminder of Adis love for fresh young, white Burgundy with plenty of delicate just-ripened stone fruits and green mango characters. The wine drinks with a smooth texture with an unaggressive acid structure.
- 2 x A.A.BadenhorstRaaigras Grenache 2020 – Red – JS92
This is a beautiful Grenache coming from one of their oldest sites planted in 1952. Ripe and rustic, with powerful sweet spices and plenty of smoky toast aromas. There’s a light grip to the palate which is balanced with noticeably refreshing acidity and light jammy fruit. A gentle concentration follows through with a long-lingering finish. Beautifully refined.
- 2 x A.A.BadenhorstSk’Windjiesvlei Tinta Barocca 2020 – Red – JS92
The richest wine of the range, Tinta Barroca is well-farmed in South Africa producing dense, cherry and spiced wines with strong acid and tannin backbone. Adi makes this style into a slightly lower, approachable volume to drink when young.
- 1 x A.A. Badenhorst Sout Van Die Aarde Palomino 2020 – White- JS92
With only 650 bottles produced, this Palomino is light, saline and according to Adi, made for oyster consumption. Texture: light-weight with medium acid and salty tannins.
